Once you are at the Village, you will see that it’s more than just a place. It is also a time: 1759. As you step into the Oconaluftee Indian Village, you’re transported back to witness the challenges of Cherokee life at a time of rapid cultural change. This year for the first time, visitors will be able to take self-guided tours to explore the authentic working Village with dwellings, residents, and artisans right out of the 1750's. Visitors can experience traditional medicine and interact with villagers as they hull canoes, make pottery and masks, weave baskets and beadwork, and participate in their daily activities.
The Village also hosts live reenactments, interactive demonstrations, “Hands-On Cherokee” arts and crafts classes, Villager outfit rentals for children, and evening storytelling performances. For more information, call the Oconaluftee Indian Village: (828) 497-2111.

grrrrrrrrrreat!!!!!!!!!! Days Inn Asheville/Mall, NC
Breakfast was perfect! The price for the room was high but cheaper than the other hotels in the area. Staff was excellent! Location was great, close to all the major "tourist" places and close enough to walk to several places to eat and shop!! I liked the way the hotel was set up, outside entrances but placed in a way you can't hear the traffic from the road when you're in your room.

Great Beds! Days Inn Asheville Biltmore- Smokey Park Highway, NC
I loved the bed! The rooms were just redone and very nice. The shower was good and the towels were nice and fluffy. The breakfast buffet was ok. The staff was nice and when I saw a group of students arrive as I checked in, they assured me my room would be far from them - it was.

Experience the Taste of North Carolina
Think of North Carolina food and you’ll likely think of barbecue. It’s true, NC is passionate about its pulled pork. In fact, North Carolinians are so serious about ‘cue that they’ve got two distinct ways of making it and endless arguments as to whether Eastern-style (whole hog with a vinegar-based sauce) or Lexington-style (pork shoulder with a tomato-based sauce) is the true Carolina Barbecue. We’ve even got a “Barbecue Trail” so you can sample it all and decide for yourself. For more information, call the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Division of Tourism: (800) 847-4862.
